Save Moore Street Awareness Week 411 – 6 August 2022

Bhí sé breá grianmhar.

DAOINE
Bróna, Orla, Christian, Steve agus Diarmuid were the foireann inniu. Seán and John dropped by to help for awhile also, distributing leaflets.

We had an interesting conversation with an architectural archaelogist – on the street we are teaching but we’re learning too.

Numbers of people very angry at the property speculators’ plans for Moore Street engaged with us. We’ve also noticed a trend in young boys and girls who are interested in their history and eager to learn.

People originally from Poland and Turkey signed the petition today.
We met lots of people from Dublin and some from other parts of Ireland, all anxious to have the 1916 Terrace properly developed as a historical experience, while also wanting the street market upgraded and conserved.

Mairead Fahy from Howth posed for a solidarity portrait and as well as being here, will appear also in our solidarity portrait album.

AIRGEAD
As we were setting up, people were coming to sign the petition and ask us how the campaign is going, which continued even as we were wrapping up. Quite a few gave us small donations but we also received one larger and (what is for us) a very large donation today.

Our funds get spent on publicity materials and paying to register objections. We have no funding from any organisation nor, of course, from the Government and we are grateful to the public for their support.

UASDÁTÚ
Níl aon nuacht fóa/ there’s no news yet about the APPEALS to An Bord Pleanála against DCC’s Planning Department granting planning permissions to Hammerson.

Still no SIGNPOST to the O’Rahilly Monument from Dublin City Corporation – how long does it take to make a signpost and attach it?!! Anyone would think that some people in Dublin City Council don’t want to promote the history in the Moore Street area!

As usual, you can assist the campaign by spreading the word, e.g sharing our weekly posts on social media (from our Facebook or website) from time to time.

Ní neart go cur le chéile.
